I recently got this email from Fran Keller, Martin Library’s director of marketing, who shared some good news to fantasy baseball enthusiasts in Central Pennsylvania:

Hi Baseball Fans,

I know it is still cold, but you can begin thinking about baseball. Our Annual Fantasy Spring Training Program will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Both Paul White and Ron Shandler have confirmed they will be here. This will be our 22nd year!!!!

Thank you for continuing to support this program. Hope you have a great holiday season and I will see you in February.

Fran

For those of you who aren’t familiar with these guys, Ron Shandler is a fantasy baseball expert with BaseballHQ.com and is in charge of writing and publishing the annual Baseball Forecaster.  Paul White is a reporter and editor with USA TODAY and USA TODAY Sports Weekly

The 2013 Baseball Forecaster likely will be on sale again this year at the 2013 fantasy baseball spring training event at Martin Library in York. See if you can get your copy signed by Ron — it’s good luck. (Photo by Will Hanlon)

The actual event is pretty informal. A lot of the time is allotted to the guys taking questions from the attendees. There might have been roughly 100 people there last year, so if you want a seat, you might want to get there a tad early.

They’ll discuss draft strategy (both snake and auction), in-season team management, how to analyze players and even throw out some potential sleepers each of them are projecting.

The past few years, Shandler has been selling his company’s books, Baseball Forecaster and the Minor League Baseball Analyst, at the event at a discount from the cover price. Hint: You still might be able to save a few bucks if you buy them off of Amazon. But, if you have a copy while you’re there, you might be able get Ron to sign it for you, like he’s been doing for mine. It’s good luck, trust me.
